Wastewater System

Many thanks go to Mary Krauss and Evelyn Rivera-Miranda for their hard work on getting the grant application in to the USDA. Grants are extremely difficult to prepare, and these board members have spent many hours in this endeavor. Sincere thanks go to Mary and Evelyn from the folks living at Lakeshore!

Updates will be continually added to this page in regards to the progress of the project. The current timeline is to have the project completed sometime in 2026 if we are successful in acquiring the needed funds.

If you were not able to attend the meeting  on January 5th in regards to the sewer grant, here is the Wasterwater System Improvements Project document that was shared at the meeting.

Summary of the meeting: The BOD has applied for a USDA grant/loan for sewer pipes replacement.  This will be in the neighborhood of $3.5 million.  It is possible that a percentage  of this amount will come as a grant/loan (40 years at low interest). Obviously we are hoping for more grant and less loan!

Lakeshore pipes are 65 years old and in poor condition.   A requirement of USDA is to hold a public meeting to inform residents of this process so this was the purpose of the meeting.  Hopefully an  offer letter will be issued in May.  The BOD will need to call another meeting to inform the residents of the decisions and amount. There will be a vote as to accepting or not accepting, although it was unclear if the resident owners will vote or just the BOD. Hopefully, the board  will conduct a zoom meeting when this happens so everyone who wishes to participate will be able to do so.

Again thanks go out to Evelyn and Mary for their hard work on this long, arduous process.
